In Matthew 11:3, John, waiting in prison as a condemned man, sends disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
After a lifetime of being a radical prophet, having the Spirit before birth, and even being a cousin of Jesus, this is a very curious and significant question.
At first glance, we would think that John, of all people, would be confident of who Jesus is. Or is he asking something else, revealing how we all are susceptible to making God in OUR image?
