The people of the Exodus had two bodies of water to cross: the Red Sea symbolizes baptism -their transformation from slavery to freedom, much as we enter baptism as slaves to sin and emerge free of it.

They also needed to cross the Jordan and receive the promised rest, but they didn’t. Hebrews warns us to not give up and miss the promised rest as they did.
